Terry Dewayne French 67, of Hillsboro passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at his home in Hillsboro from agent orange exposure, he was a disabled veteran after he got sick.
Terry was born on November 29, 1951, in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Herburt & Kathryn French. He was raised by his mother and step-father Richard Russell Sr. He was united in marriage to Cindy Stearns in January of 1976 and had been married for 42 years.
Terry joined the United States Army on February 25, 1971 and was sent overseas during Vietnam returning back home in 1973, to serve in the 224th Engineers Battalion until he was released from active duty in 1975. Terry worked as the assistant sexton at Forest Home Cemetery for 14 years, XLM for 3 years both of Mt. Pleasant and for Tomson Services of Hillsboro for 15 years until his health failed.
He is survived by his wife Cindy of Hillsboro and his children; Cathy French Beechler of Salem, Cheryl (Charlie Ryan) Lennie of Burlington and Tarrant (Danielle) French of Mt. Pleasant, his grandchildren; Cheyenne (Greg) Connolly and John Geiger of Salem, Cassidy and Chandon Lennie of Winfield, Celsey and Tucker French and Kalib Wilson all of Mt. Pleasant, Corey and Austin Ryan of Burlington and Domanic Smith of Lone Tree, his step mother Betty (John) Russell Burr of Lone Tree and his sisters; Helen Wiele of Mt. Pleasant, Cheryl (Danny) Frasie of West Point, Sue Russell Smith of South Carolina, Mayree (Curtis) Workman of Fairfield, Jenny Foreman of Ottumwa and David (Kathleen) French of Mesa, Az.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Richard Russell Jr., and Wayne Russell.
Cremation has been entrusted to Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Terry's family will receive friends on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Interment will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established in his memory and may be sent to Cindy French.
