On Thursday, May 23, at 5:15 p.m., the James Harlan Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will be rededicating the Charles Shepherd Monument in Mt. Pleasant’s Forest Home Cemetery. Shepherd is the only known Revolutionary War Patriot buried in Henry County.
The chapter also will be presenting the 2019 Community Service Award to the Henry County Historic Preservation Commission and the public is encouraged to attend. Enter Forest Home Cemetery from the South Walnut Street main entrance. Follow the roadway to the east, then to the south.
