Downtown Hy-Vee Drugstore to close in July

All Hy-Vee Drugstore needs will be relocated to the Hy-Vee grocery store

The Mt. Pleasant Hy-Vee Drugstore and Durable Medical Equipment and Medical Supplies is moving.

The drugstore is relocating to the Mt. Pleasant Hy-Vee grocery store, located at 1700 E. Washington St., but will remain open until Friday, July 19. The store’s Hy-Vee pharmacy will begin services the following day, July 20.

This announcement was made to community members through letters in their mail.

“You should not experience any interruption in your service, and all your pharmaceutical and health care needs will continue to be met without any delays during the move,” the letter said.

Tina Potthoff, Vice President of Communications for Hy-Vee, confirmed the closure and relocation of the drugstore in an emailed statement.

“Currently, there is no private space for us to serve our patients who need assistance with durable medical equipment in the Drugstore location; however, by the end of this week, private areas will be fully constructed at our main grocery store to serve these customers,” she said in the statement.

She added in the statement that customers who don’t wish to travel to the Hy-Vee store can try the Hy-Vee Aisles Online services, which delivers items directly to customers’ homes.

The Hy-Vee pharmacy hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The letter also listed the following as services the pharmacy will offer: free prescription delivery, available automated refill ordering, generics medication discount list, immunization services and private medication consultation.

The downtown drugstore location will remain open during its normal hours, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to Saturday and closed on Sunday.

Lisa Oetken, Main Street Mt. Pleasant director, declined to comment on the drugstore building’s future at this time.
