LYNNVILLE — The New London girls’ golf team wasn’t able to make it back to the Class 1A state tournament as a team, but senior Addie Pry will be finishing her career at state as an individual. Pry finished third place individually in Monday’s regional golf final, shooting a 44 on her front nine and a 43 on the back nine to end the tournament at 87.
Pry finished the tournament one shot away from medalist honors. Hudson’s Abby Guadian and Columbus’ Aubrey Duncan each shot 86. Pry beat out fourth-place Lauren Dirks of Grundy Center by six strokes.
As a team, New London finished out at 443, which was fifth overall. Grundy Center (394) and Iowa Valley (402) advanced in the team race.
Summer Mallott finished the tournament at 99, shooting a 52 on her front nine and a 47 on the back nine. That was good enough for 12th place, just five shots off the advancing top six.
Dorie Rice shot a 64 on the front and a 62 on the back nine to end the tournament at 126. Hannah Ortberg shot a 66 and a 65 to finish at 131. Alisha Boles shot a 71 and a 65 to finish the tournament at 136, and Saige Barrow shot a 73 and a 75 to end the day at 148.
Winfield-Mt. Union’s Sabrina Moody sneaked in to the top 15 as well. She shot a 50 on her front nine and a 51 on the back nine to end the tournament at 101, which gave her 15th place overall.
Pry will be in Marshalltown on Tuesday, May 28 and Wednesday, May 29 for the Class 1A state meet.
