IOWA CITY — Mt. Pleasant high jumper Sam Beatty took part in the senior all-star track meet in Iowa City over the weekend, and he brought home the gold one final time as a Panther. Beatty took the high jump competition, outdoing a handful of seniors from all classes around the state.

The meet was put on by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches (IATC). Beatty competed on the south squad. Fellow south squad jumper Jackson Fisher of Chariton took second place in the event, and team north member Elliott Hagebock of North Union was third.

Beatty was one of the top leapers in Mt. Pleasant history, breaking the school record with a jump of 6-07 earlier this season, and tying for second place in the boys’ 3A competition at state.
