Iowa Wesleyan women’s basketball has found their new head coach. IW Athletic Director Derek Zander announced the hiring of Temaine Wright last week, filling the hole left by the departure of Jack Bruns.
“It is truly a privilege to be a part of the Iowa Wesleyan family,” Wright said in a press release. “I am very grateful to the Iowa Wesleyan community for this opportunity (and) I’m very excited to start collaborating with the team and help this program build upon its storied history.”
Wright is coming off a major turnaround at Millsaps College. He was the assistant coach for a team that went from last place to first place in one season.
“We are thrilled to have Temaine join Tiger Athletics and lead the women’s basketball program,” Zander said. “Throughout the hiring process, the passion and overall experience that he has was evident. I am excited to get him on campus and look forward to seeing what the future holds for IW women’s basketball.”
Wright takes over for a team that was 5-18 overall and 3-13 in SLIAC play last season. The Tigers finished seventh-place out of nine teams in the SLIAC.
