CONWAY, Ark. — The Iowa Wesleyan baseball team ended its southern trip on Thursday with one final game. The Tigers fell 8-4 against Hendrix College in a game played in Conway, Ark.
The Tigers fell behind early when Hendrix put up four runs in the first three innings. The Warriors scored one run in the first inning, two in the second and one in the third to take a 4-0 lead.
The Tigers put together a rally in the top of the fourth inning. Michael Rojas opened the Tiger scoring up with an RBI single. Justin Klug had a two-RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3, and Joe Mitchell tied the game up with an RBI double.
Hendrix bounced right back with a run in the fourth inning to take a 5-4 advantage. The Warriors added two more runs in the sixth inning and one in the eighth. The Tigers couldn’t put up anymore runs after the fourth inning.
IW had seven hits on the day, spread out among seven different players. Klug’s two RBIs led the way. Mitchell and Nick Salas each had one double on the day.
Five different Tigers pitched in the game. Everett Swinson picked up the loss, throwing two innings and giving up three earned runs on five hits and one walk, while striking out two batters. Joe Morrison gave up two earned runs over three innings. Mitchell Wilcox gave up two earned runs over one inning. Charles Chockley gave up one earned run over one inning, and William Hlady threw one shutout inning.
