The Mt. Pleasant junior varsity football team shut out Solon on Monday night at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex. The Panthers took down the Spartans 18-0.
The Panthers scored first on a 44-yard touchtown run by Orin Cantu late in the second quarter. The score stayed at 6-0 until halftime.
Brody Bender hit Khang Truong with a 74-yard touchdown pass to put the Panthers up 12-0 in the third quarter. Cantu sealed the game with the biggest run of the night, a 90-yard touchdown to end the scoring at 18-0.
Cantu finished with 161 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Bender went 10-17 passing the ball for 159 yards and a score. Truong led the receivers with three cathces for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Mitchell Tresel and Hoand Mai had five tackles each. Pearson Franklin had four, and Brennen Bender had one. Jack Johnson had two interceptions in the win, and Brevin Wilson had one.
