Panther boys' tennis team knocked out by Pella

PELLA — The Mt. Pleasant boys had their team tournament run end on Monday against the hosting Pella Dutch. The Panthers fell 5-0 in the regional first round of the four-team substate tournament.

Corbin Broeker fell in the No. 1 singles match, dropping the game 6-0, 6-1. Jaxon Hoyle fell 6-0 and 6-0 in the No. 2 singles match.

Donny Arledge dropped the No. 3 singles match 6-1 and 6-1. Clayton Henriksen fell 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 4 match.

Jack Schimmelpfennig lost 6-1 and 6-1 in the No. 6 match. David Nguyen dropped the first set of the No. 5 match 6-2, and trailed 3-2 when the match was ended.

The Panthers finished their season with an 8-3 team record. Broker and Hoyle will play in the state doubles tournament in Cedar Rapids on Friday, May 24.
