Panther girls' golf season ends

DEWITT — The Mt. Pleasant girls’ golf team couldn’t do enough on Monday to keep their season alive, placing sixth in the regional golf tournament in DeWitt. The Panthers shot a 418, which was just one spot back of fifth place.

Washington and Central DeWitt advanced to state in the team race. Washington won the meet with a 317, and Central DeWitt ended the meet at 379 for second.

Anni Liechty finished just one shot away from state qualification. She ended the tournament at 97 to lead the Panthers. Michal Wohlleber wasn’t far behind her, shooting a 100 to miss state by four strokes.

Melody Miller made it three seniors at the top for Mt. Pleasant in their final meet, shooting a 110. Elli Liechty was fourth on the team, finishing the meet at 111.

The Panthers ended their season with a final record of 34-16.
