Panther girls run in Ames

Magnani, Ryon finish top 10 at Iowa State Indoors

AMES — The Mt. Pleasant girls’ track and field team was back on the indoor track on Monday, competing at the Iowa State Indoors in Ames.

The Panthers finished the day with two top-10 finishes, four top 20s and six top 25s against a big field of competitors.

The best finish of the day went to Lexi Magnani in the shot put. Magnani threw a 37-00 to take the bronze. Jaden Brumbaugh placed 60th in the same event, throwing a 28-01.75

Abby Ryon had the only top-10 for Mt. Pleasant in the track events. Ryon finished 7th in the 3000-meter run, crossing in 10:53.75.

The sprint medley team of Kenna Lamm, Karsyn Lamm, Lyndi Vantiger and Maggie Jennings took 15th, finishing the race in 2:00.71. The 4X100 team of Maddie Williamson, Karsyn, Vantiger and Kenna finished 18th in the 100-meter dash, crossing the tape in 54.55 seconds.

Mt. Pleasant had two runners in the 60-meter hurdles. Karsyn took 23rd place, finishing with a time of 10.59 seconds. Williamson was .17 seconds behind her, crossing in 10.76 seconds for 42nd.

The 4X800 team picked up another top-25 result for MPCHS. The squad of Kendall Dascher, Joey Holtkamp, Abby Blint and Monroe Swain finished 25th, in 11:30.55.

Kenna finished 32nd in the 60-meter dash. She finished the race in 8.68 seconds. Lyndi Vantiger wasn’t far behind her, finishing 46th in 8.81 seconds.

The 4X400 team of Ryon, Dascher, Jennings and Swan picked up a 38th-place finish, crossing in 4:39.64. Abby Blint was 57th in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:57.49, and Claire Holtkamp was 54th in the 1500-meter run, finishing in 6:11.27.
