FT. MADISON — The Mt. Pleasant girls’ tennis team had a tough time on Thursday at a tough Ft. Madison team. The Panthers were swept 9-0 to fall to 2-3 overall this season.
Erin Zihlman lost a close No. 1 singles match, falling to Larissa Ferrill 8-6. Hallie Sandeen dropped the No. 2 singles match 8-2 against Lanie Kuntz. Shaleen Thiengmany lost the No. 3 match 8-3 against Zoe Romatowski, and Breanna Runyon lost the No. 4 single s match 8-2 against Kirklynn Nafziger.
Sierra Barton and Olivia Larson both lost nail-biters in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches respectively. Barton lost 9-8 against Alyse Schmidt, droppping the tiebreaker 7-2, and Larson fell 9-8 to Lilli Scott, dropping the tiebreaker 10-8.
Zihlman and Sandeen were swept in the No. 1 doubles match, falling 8-0 to Ferrill and Kuntz. Thiengmany and Runyon dropped the No. 2 doubles match 8-2 against Romatowski and Nafziger, and Barton and Larson fell close in the No. 3 match, dropping it 8-6 against Schmidt and Scott.
The Panthers will finally be at home again for their next match, only their second home match this season. Mt. Pleasant will host Notre Dame on Tuesday, April 23.
