WASHINGTON — The Mt. Pleasant girls’ track and field team hit the road on Thursday to run at Washington, and eclipsed 100 points once again this season. The Panthers took second overall, scoring 121 points, which was just 11 points behind first-place Solon.
Abby Ryon had a huge day in the distance events. Not only did she win the 3000-meter run, but she won it by over two minutes and broke the meet record with a final time of 10:34.48. She added to that with a win in the 1500, finishing in 5:20.49.
Maggie Cristoforo took the 400-meter dash, crossing the tape in 1:03.49. Maggie Jennings won in the 800-meter run, finishing that race in 2:27.79.
The lone winning relay team for Mt. Pleasant was the sprint medley team. The squad of Maddie Williamson, Karsyn Lamm, Cristoforo and Jennings took the top spot in 1:57.11.
Lyndi Vantiger won the long jump for Mt. Pleasant’s only field event win. Vantiger took the event with a leap of 16-01.
Mt. Pleasant will be back on the road on Tuesday, April 23. They will be at another Southeast Conference rival, running in Keokuk.
