Clayton Henriksen is a senior and a member of the Panther tennis team. Henriksen joined the team before last season.

Henriksen is playing both varsity singles and doubles this year, usually competing in the No. 6 singles slot and part of the No. 3 doubles team.

Henriksen met with The News on Tuesday after practice. The questions are in bold with his answers following.

Did you grow up in Mt. Pleasant? Mostly. Around six-years old I moved down to Lee County, and then freshman year I moved back here.

How long have you been playing tennis? Two years. I started my junior year.

What got you into it? My friend Elijah Plooster asked me to join.

Did you feel like you were a natural right away? No! It took a lot of work.

Have you made plans for after high school? Yeah, I’m going to be going to Iowa Wesleyan, and most likely study biology. And then try and get into dental school after that.

What do you prefer, singles or doubles? I’m going to have to say singles.

Do you like playing against players who are more loose and free or more competitive? If we’re close in skill level, I prefer being competitive with the guy. But if I’m going to win or lose either way, and you can already tell at the beginning of the match, then it doesn’t really matter too much.

Have you ever played against anybody that’s in a really bad mood? I haven’t encountered that yet! No.

If Coach Rodgers had a mute button and he could quiet one of you down whenever he wanted, who would he use it on most? A lot of the guys on the team (laughing).

Do you have any irrational fears? Not really. Just the fear of pain, but that’s all.

How many brothers and sisters do you have? Seven.

Of all your family members, including parents, who would give you the best game on the tennis court? I’m going to have to say my brother Lincoln. He’s a freshman.

Who would you enjoy beating the most? Probably Lincoln. He’s the cockiest.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Let’s see … Raspberries.

What is your favorite movie? The Villiage.

Is that the M. Night Shyamalan one? Yes!

So are you a big scary movie thriller type guy? No. I try to stay away from scary movies because I can’t handle it, but it’s more of a thriller, and I like the plot.

If you could hang out with one celebrity for a day, who would it be? Tom Cruise.

Just because he’s cool? Yeah.

What would you guys do? Go skydiving or something.

What if you could pick a superpower to have? Probably flght.

Anywhere in particular you’d fly or just for convenience? Mostly for convenience.

I always ask people favorite teacher, but you’re home-schooled. Yeah, my mom.
