Hallie Sandeen is a senior at Mt. Pleasant high school and a member of the Panther girls’ tennis team.

Sandeen is one of three seniors in the varsity lineup. She normally plays on the No. 1 doubles squad and No. 2 in singles.

Sandeen met with The News on Wednesday afternoon. The questions are in bold with her answers following.

Did you grow up in Mt. Pleasant? No, I grew up in Winfield. In third-grade, I transferred to Mt. Pleasant.

How long have you been playing tennis? Just since freshman year.

What got you in to it? Both my brothers played it, so I was kind of following in their footsteps. It was just a fun sport that I liked to do with my friends

Have you made plans for after high school? Yeah. I’m going to go to Iowa State and major in event management.

Who is the most competitive person on the team? That’s a good question. I’d say maybe Erin (Zihlman).

Where are you, from 1-10 on competitiveness? If it’s a game that I know I’m going to lose, it’s probably being more on the fun side. But like today, when we played Assumption, I was definitely a good seven or eight.

Do you ever play against anyone who is a little too serious, maybe plays in a bad mood? Yeah, for sure.

More than not? It’s just like ... I don’t know if I should say any names, but Fairfield is very competitive, because they’re very good.

So basically a lot of the good teams are a little too serious? Yeah, just a little bit.

Do you ever give your opponent the point on a close call just to avoid confronation? Yeah. I mean, if it’s more on the outside of the line, I’ll call it out, but sometimes I’ll just give them a point.

If Coach Scott had a mute button, and he could quiet down any of you in practice, who would he use it on most? Probably me. He definitely tells me to be quiet a lot.

When you’re not at home or school, what can we find you doing? Probably working with either 4-H, or being in some band.

If you could be an animal, what would you be? I would say a Zebra, because that’s like, my favorite animal. I don’t know, they’re just spunky.

Are you a morning person or a night person? I don’t have a favorite. I don’t dislike the morning or dislike the night time. I like them both.

So if Coach Scott decided practice was 6:30 a.m., you would be OK with it? I don’t know, I think that would wake me up! I’d be OK with that.

What is your favorite cell phone app? ‘1010.’ I like block games. It just makes you think a lot.

I don’t even know what that is. It’s just like, clearing blocks out.

Like Candy Crush? Yeah, kind of.

If you could hang out with one celebrity for a day, who would it be? I’d say Liam Neeson. He’s pretty cool. He’s always in those adventurous movies.

He’s a tough guy. Yeah, he is!

What if you could pick a superpower to have? Invincibility. You could get shot, you know, and you’re still alive. I would love that.

Basically you feel no pain. Yeah!

Favorite teacher? I’d say I really like Mrs. Cooney. She’s my favorite, probably. I just learn from her teaching style probably the best.

Any shout outs? Probably Cherry, my mom. She’s always been supportive of everything.
