Both the WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball teams ended their regular seasons on the road Tuesday night. W-MU was swept by Mediapolis in their final North Division match, and WACO was swept at Van Buren to finish out South Division play.
W-MU put a scare into the favored Bullettes in all three games, but could never pull off a set win. The Wolves lost 25-19, 25-21 and 25-23.
Anna Hudson led the Wolves with five kills in the loss. Jenna Buffington and Liana Sweezer each had four. Madie Anderson and Jami Wilkerson had three apiece, and Sabrina Moody finished with one.
Kayla Edwards led the Wolves with 17 assists. The defense was led by the duo of Wilkerson and Kyndal Townsley, both of which finished the night with nine digs. Buffington had four blocks in the loss, and Hudson had three.
W-MU served well despite the loss. The Wolevs were 62-64 with nine aces. Moody had three of those aces. Edwards had two, and Buffington, Townsley, Wilkerson and Carlee Sloan each had one.
WACO lost by double-digits in all three matches. Van Buren took games 25-12, 25-15 and 25-11.
Morgan Graber led WACO with six kills. Nadiyah Brown had five. Kristen Conley, Lona Farrier and Clara Schmitz all finished with three, and both Laney Graber and Ellie Miles had two.
L. Graber had all 20 of the Warriors’ assists in the loss. Aubri Garnsey led the squad wiht 14 digs. Brown had five blocks.
WACO went 25-26 on the serve. L. Graber had the team’s only ace.
Both teams will now gear up for the postseason. The regional first round games will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 16, and Both W-MU and WACO will host. The Wolves will take on Sigourney, and the Warriors will play Notre Dame. Both games start at 7 p.m.
