RIVERSIDE — The Winfield-Mt. Union baseball team did show minor improvements in their loss at Highland on Monday night. After getting beaten 17-0, in five innings, in Winfield by the Huskies in early June, W-MU lasted six innings on Monday night before falling 10-0 against the same Huskies squad.
Highland’s Jordan Sosa kept W-MU off balance all night, giving up just two hits in five innings of work. That allowed the Highland offense to extend the lead by bits and pieces throughout the night.
The Huskies scored two runs in the second inning and three in the third to take a 5-0 lead after three frames. The Huskies tacked off four runs in the fifth to take a 9-0 lead and ended the game via the 10-run rule with one final run in the sixth.
W-MU has now lost their last seven games. They sit at 1-14 overall this season. The Wolves will be back at home tonight (Tuesday) when they host Iowa Mennonite in a SEISC North Division showdown.
